What's the deal with the probe for Bush administration's firing of nine U.S. attorneys.?

Several of these attorneys were fired because they did not prosecute alleged voter fraud. When they researched into it, they couldn't find any real prosecutable offenses; so the Karl Rowe bunch had them fired, even though they were appointed by Republicans and had only done their constitutional duty.
