Poverty in UK, Leeds 29% of people live in poverty?

Of course you are. Charity is a personal choice, you must give to whoever you feel needs it most. Lots of people in this country feel very privileged compared to places like Haiti so that's why they respond as we are seeing at the moment with the recent earthquakes. The definition of poverty here is probably different to other places - do the 29% you refer to at least have a roof over their heads, and shoes on their feet? In Haiti at the moment lots don't, so the pictures are very powerful and people see the need as greater. But there are people in situations all over the world in dire situations and you can't give money to them all, so it's your right to support whichever people you choose to.
